About
Dave Balkan, PT, is a Board Certified and licensed Physical Therapist in the State of NJ since 1997. He is originally from Rockland County, NY. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and then went on to receive his Master of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Delaware.
After graduating PT school, he has worked locally in NJ for the past 26 years in outpatient orthopedic settings, assuming roles as a clinician, credentialled clinical instructor, mentor, clinic supervisor, program coordinator, and now as our Director of Therapy.
Dave has vast expertise in the orthopedic realm, treating a multitude of injuries and conditions including, but not limited to, traumas and accidents, overuse injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation. He has a special interest in sports medicine rehab and has worked extensively with high level athletes at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. He uses an arsenal of manual treatment skills to augment an exercise-based rehabilitation framework. Dave also has experience with aquatic therapy, homecare, and progressive neuromuscular disorders.
As our Director of Therapy in our brand new, state of the art PT clinic, Dave now has the opportunity to work closely with our physicians. This allows the therapy team to interact with the physicians on a daily basis, enhancing the PT experience for his patients. He has also developed relationships with many orthopedic surgeons and physicians in the area. With a patient centered approach to rehabilitation, he delivers individualized care to each and every patient in the clinic.
Dave currently resides nearby in Cranford, NJ with his wife (and occasionally his adult and college aged children). In his spare time, you can find him spending time with family and friends, walking around and eating in downtown Cranford, going to the Jersey shore, playing basketball, fixing things around his house, and fanatically rooting for the New York Rangers & all things Michigan Wolverines.
